It's Time for Cable Choice

The issue of television in today's world for Catholics is no doubt a tough one. Television has been graced by the presence of Fulton Sheen, and destroyed by the presence of reality TV. Many wonder just whether or not TV really is a danger to Catholic children.

This humble journalist is admittedly divided in this debate. I myself frankly admit, I watch 3-5 hours of television a week if that. There is much good on television, yet it is becoming increasingly harder and harder to find. This column provides an interesting solution, and how it is already beginning to work out.

L. Brent Bozell has always been one of my favorite columnists. He consistently chronicles the absurdity of liberalism in the media today, and the Anti-Christian culture it breeds. If a name strikes hatred amongst the liberal establishment, which Bozell's does, you certainly have done something right!

One thing that is true is that television is here to stay, and, that as much as we attempt to shelter children from it, eventually they will be confronted with the beast. I am not proposing saturating them in television for hours on end at a young age. I am saying that when the time comes, we consider supporting ideas like Mr. Bozell advocates, so when the child does have to worry about the tube, the television can actually be a tool to enhance his mind, not make him dumber.
